Tell Us Your Paid4U Story

On January 27 we had another of our monthly missional moments. These missional moments are opportunities for the whole church to get outside our four walls and share God’s love in a practical, tangible way. Paid4U.com is a “seed planting” ministry whose goal is simply to make people aware of who Jesus is and what he did for everybody by dying on the cross.
The activity that we suggested is to take one of those green cards that has only the web address Paid4U.com on it and give it to someone you don’t know as you pay for their value meal at a fast-food restaurant or their coffee drink at a local coffee house. The point is to get them to go to the website and read about Jesus and how he paid the debt for all of us by dying on the cross. Then the site basically tells them to check out a local church to find out more about Jesus, and it gives a list of local churches. So far we are the only church in southeast Michigan to sign up.
Our Story
So the staff went to lunch together on January 29 at our favorite Thai restaurant, and we decided we would give it a try. We saw a man eating his lunch alone. So we got his server’s attention and asked to pay his bill, and she agreed to give him the card without telling him who had “paid his debt.” As the man left, he kept scanning the restaurant, as if he was looking for someone he knew who would pay for his meal. His server told us later that he really wanted to know who paid, but she didn’t blow our cover.
We don’t know what the outcome will be. Perhaps the man was already a Christian, and he was able to praise God for a simple act of kindness in his name. Perhaps he could tell his church about Paid4U and prompt more people to get involved. If he doesn’t know Jesus, then we pray that this simple act did plant a seed, and we pray that he will come to know Jesus.
Share Your Story
It’s a simple action with eternal potential. We’d like to encourage each other to continue to share God’s love in simple ways; so we’ve begun this blog category to allow folks the opportunity to share their Paid4U story.

We had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast with some of our family members at the church. We took this opportunity to do the Paid 4 U campaign. The joy on the waitresses face was enough! This is a great way to preach the Gospel, I love the words of St. Francis of Assisi when he said, “Preach always, and when necessary, use words.” By the way, the movie: “Brother Sun, Sister Moon,” is a great movie on the life of St. Frances. If you haven’t seen it, please do, you will enjoy it!
